Even with winds cranking over 20mph, Keith stuck to his guns that he only wanted to throw artificials today. Well, it paid off! Found shelter from the bruising gusts and starting catching trout at mid and high tide. Once the water came down, the redfish bite turned on. Highlight of the day was this nice double!

Ever have a big fish hit so hard you could barely get the rod out of the holder? Well, Heather learned all about that today. Huge redfish in less than a foot of water inhaled blue crab again and again. Average fish weighed eleven pounds with the biggest at fourteen. Wow!

Big winds out of the East kept us pinned in for most of the charter. Stephanie would not be deterred and caught her first redfish ever! This nice five spotted slot fish took down a shrimp under a popping cork. She’ll be back for more!

Wind, wind, wind….docks, docks, docks. It would be fair to think that being blown into creeks to fish docks would have its drawbacks. However, it has provided one of the best Springs we have ever fished! Huge redfish are crushing cut mullet and our drags are locked all the way down so we just have a chance to turn these beasts. Multiple 13 pounders caught this week already. Bring on more blustery weather!

For her birthday, Robyn wanted to go on a fishing charter. We had a special treat right out of the gate when Robyn and her son landed two 23″ redfish at the same time! Continued to catch a mix of reds, flounder and black drum for the duration of the charter. Cut mullet fished around docks was the ticket.

Left at first light to try to get as much fishing done before the water spilled over the grass during a very high tide. We found a fantastic trout bite that stayed strong for almost four hours! Corks paired with mud minnows kept dropping everywhere we went. Plenty of keeper trout with some nice three pounders in the mix too. Great morning on the water!

The Urschel clan joined me once again for a half day charter. With grandad providing gentle coaching, both grandkids combined to catch redfish and flounder using mud minnows under popping corks. Things got really exciting when we moved out to bigger water. After a barrage of sharks eating blue crab, things slowed until really big fish started to eat whole croaker. Had to get on the engine to track down one gigantic cow nosed ray. Another unseen creature snapped the rod over and completely spooled one of our reels before we could do anything about it. Quite a day!

Long time regulars, the Pilla family, came out this morning to fish the falling tide. Started nicely with slot redfish eating cut menhaden. Moved over to popping corks and caught some beautiful keeper trout with mud minnows. Anchored up in the inlet in search of bigger quarry and the bites just weren’t there as we rotated through every possible bait. As I got the boat ready to head back to the dock, one of the rods twitched and then whipped over. Half a blue crab with the shell on turned out to be the magic bait and it produced a 38″ redfish!
