Having never caught redfish before, Tim and Sam started out with a bang! The pair simultaneously landed two solid 11 pound reds while dodging each other, dock pilings and exposed rocks. Hard to top that experience but we continued the day with more reds and legal trout that hit mud minnows under corks. Great job guys!

Wind, wind, wind as the cold front sits upon us. Headed to the docks to take cover. Turned out to be a great call. Big reds smoked cut mullet especially once the water starting falling. Had to dial the drags down as tight as possible to even stand a chance. Heaviest of the day came in at 14lbs! More productive Isle Of Palms fishing charters.

Even with winds cranking at 20+ from the NorthEast, we still ran more Charleston fishing charters! Hunkered down in a creek and caught small black drum on cut frozen shrimp. But the real story was the rods fished out the back with cut mullet. Every so often, one would crank over courtesy of a big redfish! Caught several of these with the biggest at 11 pounds. Grinding them out on a windy day.

Wasn’t sure what to expect as we launched into gusty winds and an extra low tide. The water came up quick and as soon as the flats flooded the bite turned on. The rods whipped over as the reds hit cut mullet along the grass line. By the end of the afternoon, Larry had boated his personal best, a 29″ beauty. 70 degrees and sunny in February didn’t hurt either!

Three weeks of sunny weather have kept both fish and anglers busier than usual. Like most winters, the bite is best on bait fished on the bottom whether around structure or on the flats. A steady rotation of cut mullet, mud minnows and shrimp are producing well enough to keep the rods bent. Good times on the water!

While catching trout and reds, I got the call that the shark bite was hot in the inlet. With no hesitation, the Kircher family, visiting from Germany, said let’s go! Caught several nice bonnetheads with Dad helping his daughter and son land them. Apparently shark fishing is a hit worldwide!

We started the day looking for Tyler’s first redfish. Early in the charter he landed a nice three pound slot red and we were off to the races from there! By the end of the trip, Tyler was boating big boys like a pro. His heaviest red tipped the scales at 12lbs. and longest was 30″. Way to go!

Shark time! Brandi did a great job this morning boating this sharpnose. Loads of bait fish have brought these carnivorous creatures back to our waters. Cut bluefish strips have been working best. The bite will only get stronger as the waters warm!
