With winds picking up ahead of a storm front, we sought shelter and worked docks for the afternoon. As long as the water was moving, we were well rewarded as reds happily ate cut mullet. Jesse and Matt did a great job turning some of the big boys as they tried to wrap us up. More great Folly Beach fishing on a windy day!
Fishing for reds at low tide to begin the charter was very productive with mud minnows being the bait of choice. After that, we switched over to trout using popping corks. The bite was so silly good we just started messing around. John broke the boat record of five trout caught on the same mud minnow by one and raised the bar to six. Best November fishing in years!
Staring down a forecast of winds at 20 gusting to 30, Team Aquafour saddled up for their fourth annual charter. To my pleasant surprise, we found reds on the flats smoking blue crab even in one foot chop. We used shell rake to get some protection and it worked out great! Enough action that we even had a double as well as Matt’s first redfish. Great work grinding out some big reds on a windy, windy day!
Another great day of folly beach fishing charters. Eric and Fay joined me for the afternoon and we raced against a rising tide. The flats didn’t offer much but the docks sure did! Rods whipped over again and again as reds smoked chunks of cut mullet. It was the first fish that Fay had ever caught! Proof again that even during windy March Charleston fishing can be very rewarding.
Tried fishing the big water as well as popping corks to start the charter without much luck. Fortunately, the tide was dropping out quick and let us get up onto the flats. Lots of action as reds smoked cut mullet. Brian’s first redfish ever turned out to be the biggest of the day at 29″. You can tell by his smile how happy he was!
On a foggy morning, the action started right away as fish crushed cut mullet and blue crab. The first time a rod whipped over I thought it was a small redfish but it turned out to be a 21″ trout. Even better, it was the first fish Laura had caught…..ever! Continued the day catching reds in the 6-8lb. range until it was time to head a home. A great morning on the water!
