Charleston Flats Fishing

When we last fished together, the Williams brothers really cleaned up on the trout and wanted to try for redfish this time. We had perfect conditions with a mid morning low tide that would let us stay on the flats for the duration of the charter. Plenty of action right out of the gates with redfish tentatively biting on blue crab. Had lots of pickups and drops for the first two hours. Once the flats warmed up the rods started ripping over. Brought lots of feisty redfish to the boat with the heaviest at eight pounds.

Stono River Fishing

Stono River FishingThe reds were finicky to start the charter. A few times our rods tips would bend slightly then spring back. This all changed once the water started moving! Our rods snapped over time and time again. Broke off lots of big fish as they quickly dove for structure. Managed to get a few to the boat with the biggest at 32″!

Folly Beach Fishing Charters

A blown up reel, shredded leaders, pulled hooks……….it was perfect! Jeff had seen enough of my pictures with big redfish and wanted to go hunt some himself. Spent the day fishing docks and structure. While many got away, we caught reds as heavy as eleven pounds and as long as 31″. A few fish were so large that Jeff could barley move them much less gain line when they made their runs. A great time!

Rain or shine, Barb was determined to go fishing. Not only did the storm system stay away from us but we also caught lots of redfish! On the flats, around shell rake and under docks the bad weather bite was on everywhere. A great morning on the water.

Bull Redfish

Left at the crack of dawn in hopes of getting as much fishing in before a very high tide carried everyone into the grass. Mud minnows under corks proved to be the ticket and we caught many nice trout. We also caught some pinfish and bluefish which would be invaluable later. Once slack tide approached, we took advantage of the light winds and headed out to the inlet. No one carried about cracked blue crab but when we cut the heads off the pinfish the rods started snapping over. Caught bull redfish up to 40 inches and headed home happy!

Folly Beach Sharks

After catching 20 or so small redfish, Debby said she was ready for something bigger. Off to the Stono Inlet we went. Put two rods out the back with cracked blue crab and got hit very quickly. Fighting to take in line in heavy current, Debby got her big fish fix when she boated this nice bonnethead shark! Caught several more and even had a double before it was time to head home.

Trout Below Freezing

The temperature on the dashboard read 31 degrees and as I launched the boat I chipped some ice away from the bow hatch. With a decent wind out of the West, it was clear the duration of the charter would be run with a negative wind chill. Michael and Jodee were ready to go and we set off at low tide. Found dolphins making a mess of the first two schools of reds we were looking to fish. Moved over to docks and structure with popping corks and mud minnows. After lots of casts, we found a great bite where Jodee put this beautiful trout in the boat. Caught eight reds as well and were very happy with that outcome on our chilly day.
