On perhaps the nicest day so far this year, I fished Folly Beach and Kiawah with Ron, Lani and Cameron. We tried many different tactics to get the redfish to eat: jerk shad; mud minnows under corks; and cut bait on the bottom. After several spots, the popping corks and mud minnows were the clear favorite. Its a good sign that our fishery is coming back to life and the fish are becoming more aggressive. Cameron had the biggest fish of the day with a solid 10-pounder while Loni put the first flounder of the season in the boat!

Geoff, Malcolm and Jack joined me this windy morning on a half day charter. The water was a bit stained from all the recent rain and we tried all kinds of live bait to attract the fish. We had no takers on cracked blue crab, mud minnows or finger mullet. Instead, the redfish opted for Gulp! jerk shad in white. One of the highlights of the day was this redfish with five spots on one side!
Sullivan’s Island Fishing Charters

Curt and Jenny from Durham, NC decided to take advantage of the good weather this week and visit Charleston. Under sunny skies, we fished in Charleston harbor for most of the morning. Curt set the mark to beat at our first spot when he landed this nice 9-pound redfish that devoured cracked blue crab. Throughout the charter, we were able to sight fish to schools of redfish numbering in the hundreds. A great early Spring day.
